risk'n'fun CHILL OUT

risk'n'fun, a training program of the Alpine Club Youth, offers a comprehensive, high-quality program with numerous events across Austria this winter. "risk'n'fun LOCALS" for 10- to 16-year-olds and "risk'n'fun Sessions" for everyone 16 and older serve as the foundation for risk-aware freeriding on skis and snowboards and as an introduction to risk'n'fun. The teaching of alpine skills, prudent and responsible action and decision-making, and plenty of time outdoors are the common thread running through all risk'n'fun activities.

risk´n´fun LOCALS Day

The risk'n'fun snowboard and mountain guides will come to your home resort for a day and let you and your crew show them the places you ride all winter. Based on this, they'll work with you to optimize your runs. Through targeted questions, information, and their experience, they'll equip you with the tools for making sound decisions in the backcountry. The risk'n'fun principle of "perceive – assess – decide" will be the foundation of their work.

• For freeriders aged 10-16
• Prerequisite: Confident skiing in backcountry
• Equipment: Complete ski or snowboard equipment, emergency gear, no lifts required
• Group size: Max. 10 participants

risk´n´fun LEVEL 1 "Training Sessions"

04.03.-08.03.2026 in Saalbach

Short hikes near the slopes, numerous decision-making situations, and descents in off-piste terrain. Welcome to the risk'n'fun training session! In this session, we'll work together to develop your own freeride strategy based on the core principles of perception, assessment, and decision-making. The goal is for you to be able to make your own decisions, make your own arguments, and find your own lines and descent options that suit the given conditions after the session.

• For skiers and snowboarders aged 16 and up
• Prerequisite: Confident off-piste skiing
• Terrain: Near lifts, with short hikes

risk´n´fun LEVEL 2 "Next Level"

28.01.-01.02.2026 in Fieberbrunn

We ascend higher and move further and further away from the ski lifts. Splitboards, touring skis, or other climbing aids are used daily from Level 2 onwards. The content of the Next Level builds upon the respective freeride strategy of the training session. Map reading, orientation, and avalanche awareness are introduced, and participants begin planning and executing their first tours. The risk'n'fun team provides insights into the preparation and execution of a day's tour and then gradually transfers responsibility to the freeriders. Further soft skills exercises offer deeper insights into personal risk management. Level 2 also focuses on independent planning and action, enabling participants to embark on their own adventures well-prepared, guided by the principle of "perceive - assess - decide."

The risk'n'fun team provides insights into the preparation and execution of a tour day and then gradually transfers responsibility to the freeriders.

The season finale for everyone!

For two days and two nights, it's all about freeriding, meeting friends, and spending a fantastic weekend together. Two days with individual workshops in the backcountry, lectures, or discussions in the evening. There's always something new to discover. All risk'n'fun FREERIDE I BIKE participants from recent years are invited, and there are also a few spots available for anyone who simply wants to join us. We at the risk'n'fun team are looking forward to seeing you all in Fieberbrunn, one of the best freeride resorts in Austria, which is also easily accessible by public transport.
